Big isn’t always better

[tweetmeme source= “brennels” only_single=false]I was outside just a minute ago when a huge red tailed hawk, I am somewhat of a bird nut, came swooping down and to grab our little friend “chippy” the chipmunk. But the chipmunk scurried around a tree and the hawk was unsuccessful. This made me think that there is something to be said for speed and the ability to be more nimble than your competition. This was certainly the case with our marketing team. We weren’t big but we were fast and quick to adopt new technologies and marketing strategies with little bureaucratic review which gave us an advantage over much larger companies. This resulted in our small team to be able to generate huge market share and visibility by being first to react to any given situation. Granted there was still plenty of long term planning that ran in parallel to our short term programs but we still held the distinct advantage by being able to create results quickly. So, big isn’t always better, sometimes it helps to be quick like “chippy.”
